What do the experts have to say about hair trims?

How often women should cut out hair? The answer to this question depends on the hair type and hair length. It is pertinent to mention that hair grows on an average of half or one inch on monthly basis. Hair growth varies from person to person as some peoples’ hair grow faster and some grow slower. In order to keep hair growing, one must cut it regularly (normally half an inch).
According to experts, regular hair trim improves hair growth. Long and curly hair are more liable to breakage and split ends. So long hair requires regular haircuts after every eight or twelve weeks in order to maintain healthy look. Women with medium or fine hair probably should go for hair cut after two or three months. Short hair needs a trim after every month or 6-10 weeks. And if you have damaged hair, regular monthly haircuts phase out the busted hair slowly but steadily and ensures healthy growth of hair roots.
As mentioned at www.telegraph.co.uk, various experts suggested regular hair trims to keep hair long and healthy.
Kerastase UK brand ambassador James Galvan said that the one obvious reason for regular hair trims is to keep the hair ends blunt and at their thickest. He said “I would always recommend cutting off about half of the growth to keep the tips healthy. Doing this will get rid of any dry ends and help your hair grow healthily. Leaving your hair to grow without regular trims is a slippery slope and will only lead to you needing a big chop in the end.”
Hair stylist Jason Lawrence was of the view that hair stays strong and healthy from roots to ends. Hair grows in different phases at different rates. “So a regular haircut helps to keep hair even and looking its best. Products can also affect hair growth, as can natural remedies such as peppermint, lavender and rosemary oils and apple cider vinegars.”
However, Trichologist at Philip Kingsley, Anabel Kingsley has different views. He suggests to look after scalp to keep hair long. He said that “Regular trims will help maintain the integrity of your ends, but it will have absolutely no effect on hair growth. Hair grows from the scalp, so to support its growth you need to keep your scalp healthy by shampooing regularly.” He remarked that extra nutritional support to hair by supplementing died with a hair-specific nutritional supplement is essential requirement for hair to keep them in good condition.”
